Find your True Self

- Virginie F. -

All About Her

Virginie Fortin was born 51 years ago in France, Châlons Sur Marne. She is the daughter of Claude and Monique Fortin. She is the baby sister of Eric, Emmanuel et Catherine; she is a mum of Victoria, Jill, David, Mia and Storm.

She left France at the age of 20 years to come to Australia to study for nine months at the University of Technology of Sydney.

She followed her heart; she is full of energy. At 50, her train did not have any more steam to run. She was exhausted. As they said in France, she was burning the candle by both ends. It was time to stop.

You could not pin her anywhere; always a lot of projects, she loves life; nothing scares her; she is the MacGyver of the family.

Who will believe she will write her book? She never sits long enough.

She made two promises to her dad, one in 2011 to stop smoking and she did and another on in 2019 to write a memoire. How was she going to do it? She never really enjoys writing. Her family and friends are always correcting her, in French or English. Words were not her friend; she always preferred number. Was she crazy or having Courage?

Always be careful what you wish for. 2020, COVID 19 was the ideal moment to pin her down. What a journey, she stripped herself off, and she now understood what her dad asked to do it. He is in his eighty fifth years, it is time now life is too short.

It was not only 48 hour of hard work but a start to a new beginning. This book is her life, her dreams and her story.

Testimonials

I have been a friend and a spectator of your life for quite a few years now (25+?). There are a few adjectives that come to mind when thinking about you: Loving, loving, loving; you are an incredibly loving person. You follow your heart and your instincts, for the best and for the worst. (Pour le meilleur et pour le pire). Bold, brave, and resilient. An unwavering support to your family and friends. Always ready for a good time with friends and a laugh. Keep it that way. We love you as you are and whatever the lesson, we are willing to grow with you. Bisous bisous.

It takes a lot of courage and tenacity to accomplish this project. A book, a real one! Unlike in movies, life is not always a long, quiet river, but an adventure with counter-current ascents and detours. (Well, only for lives that have been lived to the teeth). No doubt that the next adventure is already being written, literally or figuratively.

Rosa Dedaj

We met in 1998 during the famous Bastille Ball, sipping a panaché on the beach at Hervey Bay. You were a single mum then, and I lost sight of you for several years. When I found you again, thanks to Facebook, you went to French Guiana, and were married with seven kids. What an adventure! I don't think you will ever stop surprising me!

My little sister Virginie should have been named "Sister Virginie," for she exemplifies love and kindness. She wears her heart on her sleeves, and is always ready to welcome everyone indiscriminately, even her worst enemy. She is bubbly and courageous, genuine and true to herself. She absolutely abhors any form of injustice, a trait shared by the whole Fortin family. Despite the trials and errors, she always finds the motivation to bounce back. She could have been in the humanitarian business rather than doing accounting; perhaps she would have flourished a lot more. But her life represents her choices, and when your are the mother of a tribe, it becomes importante to refocus on the essentials.
